It is anticipated that biobased industries, which includes wood processing, construction, chemicals and energy, bioplastics, and packaging will be our next area of significant economic growth.
SFWS research is focused on advanced wood products processing, wood composites development, forest biorefinery and nanotechnology. Our goal is to become a top research program that will lead the transformation of traditional industries into a new era with an emphasis on producing green chemicals, materials and biofuels from forestry.
Key stakeholders include industry, government, academia, and granting institutions with an interest in finding solutions to barriers that hinder product performance or prevent product entry for sustainable green biomaterials from our natural resources.
